Hi Guys,
In the middle of August I was on holiday on Rhodes, Greece. Previously, I have never been to Greece, so I cannot compare Rhodes with other Greek islands. But this island has surprised me – in a positive way.
I lived in Rhodes town, and that was a very good decision, because I do not have a driving license – and would be a little bit difficult to visit many places on the island.
In front of my hotel was the Elli Beach with the crystal clear Mediterranean. And those who wanted to enjoy more waves and winds could do this in the back of the hotel on the Aegean Sea.
Almost every evening I explored the old town of Rhodes. There are still original houses and streets from the middle Ages. There you could buy divers tourist stuff, but also amazing pieces from local artists. Some pieces were great but unfortunately really expensive. Maybe next time
Rhodes is a fairly large island where you can discover a lot. Even without a driving license, but by bus. From Rhodes town go almost every ten minutes buses in all directions. So I took the bus every second day for a excursion over the island. A couple of times I went to the Anthony Quinn Bay. It was very nice there but overcrowded with people – and although two beach chairs and umbrella cost 10 euros per day. An unfortunately usual price on the whole island.
I visited also the city of Lindos, there is the second largest acropolis after one in Athens. It stands on a castle ruin on a 116 meter high rock. To climb this mountain in the noonday, without a cloud in the sky and without wind, was not easy. But I have survived, the temperatures felt like 50 degrees
In the city center there also many shopping possibilities – Sephora and a Multibrand boutique for example with brands like Kenzo … Yes, of course I have found something there
It was a really great decision to visit the Rhodes!
