Marrakesh, Morocco

Marrkesh has always been a must see city in my list. I’ve always had my own imagination about this city … It’s supposed to be a city from the arabian fairy tales, like a thousand and one nights …. And it’s was almost like this… I just imagined a bit more mosaics …

In Marrakesh we arrived with the group. From Agadir it is about 3 hours to drive. But then me and my buddy left the group…. For me was very important to see other spots, which were not included in group tour with the guide …. For example, the garden of Yves Saint Lauren …

So from the Old Town to the Jardin Majorelle we went by the foot through Marrakesh, it was about 2 km – so we could see more of city, and not just usual tourist areas. In general you can move thru the city without any fear, the Moroccans are already quite openminded people …

At Jardin Majorelle the entrance was overcrowded with people. We would have to stand there at least for an hour or even more in waiting line to get the tickets … But….. I know exactly how to deal with it ;) Just give 10 euros to the security man and after 5 minutes we were in the garden … Yes, I know…. corruption is corruption … But this time it was worth to do it ;) The garden was very, very, very cool, it’s really very nice garden, there we definitely enjoyed the time.

After the garden, we drove with taxi to Medina, the old town. There we visited Jemaa el-Fnaa – the central marketplace … there are many cafes and alot of shopping stuff. The best part was the visit the Bahia Palace in the old town. The entrance cost just 1 Euro but it’s nothing if you compare with the fee to the Majorelle Garden, – and there you can admire a wonderful architecture with many mosaics … A must see in Marrakech …

Then the Koutoubia Mosque… And we even had some time to go shopping and have something to eat …

Well, the trip to Marrakech was worth it … if you were there for at least two days, then you could do everything in “easy going” and enjoy so much more. Would I go to Marrakech again? I do not know … maybe …
