Dubai Marina, Travel Blogger

Hi Guys,

Dubai was in my MUST SEE list already for a while. Many of my friends told me that I will like Dubai and … yassss !!!!!! I really liked this city ;)

One of my friends recommended to stay at Dubai Marina and that was a really good advice. The metro station was next to the hotel and the beach was not far away too – 10 minutes to walk. Everything was really easy to reach by metro, no matter if it was the airport or downtown … driving with a taxi wasn’t expensive either, but I did’t used a taxi.

The architecture of Dubai has really inspired me. Many skyscrapers and some of them had a very interesting design. Everything was so new and everything shined! In this moment you could feel that the City has a lot of money ;)

The water in the sea was very warm or better to say – hot ;) I could sit for hours in the water ;) The beach was pretty nice but renting the sun-beds was to expensive – 25 euros per person per day and quite far from the water.

On the first day I did a sightseeing tour through Dubai and saw the main sights: Burj Al Arab, Dubai Museum – Al-Fahidi-Fort, gold and the spice market.

The next day I visited Burj Khalifa and the Dubai Aquarium. This both attractions have not inspired me, maybe because I saw already other hight buildings around the world and I know this feeling. With aquarium it was the same thing and seriously I have much more fun to see the real nature in real deep see…. ;)

In my daily program was a tour with a quad in the Rub al-Chali desert – unfortunately I can’t live without adventures so I have built an accident with the quad and I rolled with it… Fortunately, nothing bad happened – a slight concussion of my brain and bruises everywhere…. I tried the sand-boarding too, and I liked that! That was the first desert I’ve ever seen … Wow, it was very impressive!!! I don’t understand how I couldn’t make a trip to the Sahara in Morocco … maybe I was too busy with surfing ;)

A visit to the capital of the United Arab Emirates was also on my list, and I DID IT! But about it in my next blog post ;)

In general Dubai is quite expensive city: Laduree costs almost twice expensive as in Europe, even coffee-shops are quite overpriced. Now about some shopping! I was in three shopping malls and I most I liked was – The Mall of the Emirates. It’s a bit more compact than The Dubai Mall ;) On the other hand, I did most of the shopping in the Dubai Mall ;) Many collections are a bit older and the prices are quite high. Actually, shopping in Dubai is interesting if you have a lot of money and if you missed something from an older collection, you might still be able to buy it in Dubai …. Only the price will be quite overpriced. For example, 3 years ago I bought a dress from French Connection for 30 euros on sale. There this dress was offered for 120 euros and the seller has tried all the time to convince me that it is from the new collection :-) Despite the difference of 150 euros, I bought a Moncler coat, which is sold out everywhere in Europe, and a scarf by Gucci was about 35 euros more expensive than in Europe. But I missed it two years ago and couldn’t buy anymore … So it was worth to spend this money and to have my favorite pieces. Otherwise, I’ve visited my favorite shops, some we don’t have in Germany: Juicy Couture, Victoria’s Secret, Bloomingdails … The prices there was ok …

In Dubai Mall is a BALMAIN fake store, so be careful !!!!!!! The prices are not so cheap – everything starts from 100 € – but everything is fake and when I asked, why everything is so cheap, I got the answer “we change the seasons” … Still, many people buy there because no one have the idea, that there can be a fakestore … I will write now an e-mail to Balmain …

My Dubai Conclusion: A super combination of beach and city trip, which is worth in any case. And on occasion I will gladly visit Dubai again.

In my next post you can read about my day trip to Abu Dhabi. This week I’m preparing for my next trip – on Monday I am flying to paradise ;)

If you missed the yacht cruise at Dubai Canal, I recommend you to visit the city again. Perhaps watch the awesome fireworks from a chartered yacht at Dubai Marina. Will be glad to host you.
